How To Make YouTube Videos On A Chromebook

I've heard a lot people who use a Chromebook as a everyday laptop, but I've also heard some people asking, how can I make a YouTube video on a chromebook? Well see, there's a hitch. Most YouTube video editing software (which many YouTubers use) are only available on major operating systems like Microsoft's Windows and Apple's macOS. But there's quite a bit of Chromebook users throwing a fit saying, that they can watch YouTube, but can't upload to YouTube. This little guide from Lycanium Z, will show you how!

1. Open up the Camera app on Chrome OS. This will allow you to take pictures and record video using your built-in webcam. If for some reason it was not installed, Google provides the app for all devices running Google Chrome through the Web Store, and can be downloaded at this link.

2. Start recording video. Depending on how much storage you have, make sure your video is long enough to fit on your disk drive, as many Chromebooks use only Flash Storage.

3. Open up YouTube.com on Chrome. Click on the camera in the right-hand corner, and then click "Upload Video". Click on "Select files to upload", and then browse for the video you took with your webcam. Then, proceed to upload the video.

4. Edit the information for the video while it's uploading. Give the video tags, a title, and a description or anything else that the video seems intriguing in. Wait for the video to finish processing, and that's it! Now you can share on major social networks like Facebook and Twitter!

I don't know if this will help any, but since Google overhauled YouTube's design back in 2017, this is really the only other way for Chromebook users to "Broadcast themselves". But I think this might help, as I have done some research in this, so it should work. If not, leave your thoughts in the comments below, and I'll try to get back to you!

The latest update for the camera app as of this post was January 25, 2019, with version 5.3.5, and can be downloaded through the Chrome Web Store by clicking here.
